PIANO ALIVE
Students learn chording and notation, theory for creativity, and group playing skills in a fun yet discipline-oriented environment. Musical movement and percussion is incorporated for younger age groups. Classical piece performance and songwriting are incorporated in older age groups. Each student has access to their own center-provided keyboard during classes, and time is allotted for special class performances. Each session runs 8 weeks followed by the opportunity to "test up" in a separate event and receive a medal for levels passed. Piano Alive connects students with a range of learning styles to music as a whole, with piano as the tool to express themselves and experience excellence in technique, application of amazing theory that matters, and the joy of group playing. This refreshing method has been developed over the past several years by full time instructor and pianist Danika Starrharrt, Encore's founder-director. The results are proven to provide an exceptional foundation and creative springboard in piano -- the kind of inspirational pedagogy we wished we would've had in past generations!

SONGWRITING
GarageBand Songwriting and Music Video:
In this class, we’ll come together each season to create an original music video from start to finish! Using Garage Band and video production tools, students will learn how to compose, record, and produce a one-of-a-kind song while capturing it on video. Each class starts with a brainstorming session to spark ideas for our original song, diving into lyrics, melody, and mood as we build the foundation together. Once the song is crafted, students will record it in Garageband, learning how to layer instruments, vocals, and effects. With our song complete, the focus will shift to the video side, where students will explore video techniques to bring their music to life visually. No prior experience is needed—just creativity and a willingness to sing, act, or learn behind-the-scenes skills. By the end of the season, students will have produced a quality music video that showcases their teamwork, creativity, and new technical skills!
