EAGLE, S MERIDIAN DYLAN OLSON (Guitar, Piano, Voice, Drums, Recording & Production) Dylan’s passion for music was invigorated with a makeshift drum set when he was 10 years old. However, drums were simply the gateway to his passion for music, and he started his journey as a songwriter at the age of 14 when he got his first acoustic guitar. He diligently taught himself music theory and practiced incessantly and was in multiple bands as a singer, guitarist and drummer before he was 18. He attended Northwest Nazarene University as a Nursing major and Vocal Performance minor where he performed with the choir and played in even more bands as a drummer and a singer, but decided to transfer to another college to pursue different interests after a couple of years. He would eventually leave college to pursue his passion for music, where he focused on electronic production and being a DJ, until he began his first big band, Cutting Cages. Within the first year, they were nominated for Best Band in Boise and played the Knitting Factory. During this time, he also taught himself keys and bass, but would become masterful with these instruments in later years. They eventually broke up in 2015, which led him to focus on his solo project as a singer/songwriter. During his time solo, he traveled to South America where he started performing on the streets and eventually attracted a band of musicians to play shows at establishments throughout Iquitos, Peru, where he was living. Upon his return to the states he reinvented himself and his solo project into its current form, “Lover.” Soon after its conception, he began his serious journey as a composer and producer when he was 28 and invested in his education and his home studio and started getting clients for voice over work, commercials, jingles, movie scores, games, online courses and other various content. As his experience and expertise grew, other artists and musicians hired him to record, mix and master their works, and he is highly revered for his ability as a “wizard” with production and his ability to help others unlock their creativity and achieve states of play and freedom in the studio. After a few years of hiatus, he has focused on his mastery of the keys over the past year and is now the keys player in Dozey Dubs and Highway 45, and is also in 3 other multi-genre projects as a producer and composer. He has experience teaching a few students over the years, but is now in a place where he wants to give back to the community through sharing his expertise and knowledge with others. “Play is our natural human state. Children are always in a state of play, and that is why children learn to dance, sing, act and draw before they do anything else. If we can foster playfulness, we can achieve unfettered states of creativity, and if we can reach such states of creativity, we open ourselves up to new states of connection and freedom.” ~ Dylan Olson See other instructors here.
