Teaching with Encore since July 2024
EAGLE, S MERIDIAN JUSTIN BAIRD (Filmmaking, Acting) Justin is a director, composer, writer, inventor, and “Daddy” to two little boys (who have unbridled creativity and boundless energy!). He has directed commercials, feature films, documentaries, and stage plays. He holds a BA in Music and a MFA in Motion Picture Production. Justin has over a decade of experience teaching K-12 students in filmmaking, music, and creative writing. His classes center around helping students grow their capacity for creative expression and exploration, collaboration, and storytelling, along with practical skills development. He particularly enjoys teaching Film and Video Production, Acting for Camera, and Directing for Screen and Stage. When he teaches, Justin has three primary goals: 1. Ensure his students master the fundamentals of the course subject matter. 2. Provide opportunities for them to practice the skills they are learning. 3. Offer practical tips and ideas for ways they can use their new knowledge in the future. When not teaching at Encore or making movies, you’ll find Justin composing choral and orchestral works and writing musical theater shows. Bonus fun facts about Justin: He invented, designed, and produced a new, coffee-related travel product. Over the past 15 years, Justin and his family have traveled to over 50 countries on six continents. During these travels, Justin has documented (through photos, videos, and the written word) his experiences with the many people they’ve met and with the cultures, cities and sites they’ve encountered.
