EAGLE PAIGE FOOTE (Science) This instructor holds a degree in Microbiology from the University of Rochester and brings over 12 years of experience working in laboratory environments. Their professional background spans several fields, including ecology and evolutionary biology, biomedical genetics, immunology, computer science, and even quantum communications and atomic physics. After taking some time off to focus on family, they are now eager to return to their passion for science and education. As a parent of three young girls, including a 2.5-year-old and 9-month-old twins, they understand the importance of balancing work and family. This led to the creation of Lab Rat Learners, a unique opportunity to teach science in a flexible, fun, and engaging way. By offering hands-on learning experiences, the instructor is able to combine their expertise with their desire to stay home and care for their children. The classes themselves are designed to ignite curiosity and excitement in young students. Two six-week sessions are offered each academic semester, with an additional summer session. The curriculum spans a wide range of STEM disciplines, ensuring variety and depth. Each class lasts for 45 minutes, beginning with a short lecture explaining the day's topic and its real-world relevance. Afterward, students dive into hands-on experiments to see science in action. The goal of these classes is to make science enjoyable and accessible. Students will receive a booklet summarizing the experiment and its key points, but there will be no homework or worksheets. The focus is on fostering a love for learning and inspiring children to explore the fascinating world of science. Check the availability for another instructor here.
