S MERIDIAN
ELAINE FORD (Voice, Piano, Ukulele) Elaine began her private music lessons in Southern California at the age of five, with a focus on Classical and Pop music. Her parents loved and played music and supported her desire to learn. She was involved with music throughout her elementary and high schools years playing in many recitals, and part of many choirs. She studied 2 years at Pasadena City College and 2 years at the Dick Grove School of Music in Studio City, Los Angeles. Many of her teachers at this school were well known session players in Los Angeles. Her vocal instructor was Jack Halloran, a session vocal contractor at the time (see Wikipedia). This school was instrumental in building on her Classical music knowledge with the Jazz approach in both piano and vocal performance. This allowed her to work for many years in the Los Angeles area as a professional vocal/piano performer in many bands, including session work, radio, theater and cable TV. She is also a songwriter and you can listen to her songs on her YouTube Channel, as well as past student performances. Never intending to teach music in the school system, her high visibility as a performer drew students to her and her vast experience and education in music has given her success with over 30 years teaching privately. She is currently first soprano and cantor in the Traditional Choir at St. John the Evangelist Cathedral in Boise. |
