Teaching with Encore starting August 2024
S MERIDIAN LYNETTE CLAYPOOL (Tactile Crafts) Lynette is a certified English Teacher for Secondary Education and has 20 years experience teaching in person, online, as a homeschool teacher, and as a multi-subject instructor for hybrid programs. Courses she taught at the High School and Middle School level included Composition, Literature, Creative Writing, College/Career, and a variety of electives. Once she began homeschool teaching, she recognized the tremendous benefit of the hybrid programs for flexibility and creativity. For the past three years, she has taught a variety of courses including History, Writing, Literature, Science, Theater, and Artistic Expression through Crafts and Design. Lynette grew up with her father working as a Park Ranger at Yellowstone National Park. This experience provided her with many opportunities to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors, including canoeing, hiking, skiing, and camping. Currently, Lynette's family takes advantage of the beautiful state of Idaho as they continue the tradition of camping, skiing, boating, backpacking, and cycling. Lynette has been married almost 20 years. Her oldest, Ayden, is 19 years old, born in Fairbanks, Alaska, and her daughter Grace is 16 years old, an Idahoan native, born in Boise. Lynette's dream as a child was to be a world traveler and she has visited some amazing places with family and friends and traveling solo. She lived in England for 6 months while in college and toured many countries in Europe, taking the Euro-rail and sleeping in youth hostels. She visited missionary friends in Costa Rica and took a side trip to see her brother in Panama. While working for the Park Service and Forest Service, her seasonal job as a wildland firefighter offered many opportunities for travel around the western U.S., chasing and suppressing forest fires - probably the most thrilling of her career experiences! Additionally, Lynette loves to paint, draw, play with the potter’s wheel, and quilt. Lynette has spent the last 20 years of her life in some sort of teaching capacity. She loves working with kids and as a teacher, her desire is to help students develop their skills as learners and seekers. She believes that EVERY child has a tremendous capacity to learn and grow and ultimately to become teachers and leaders themselves. She hopes to be able to facilitate this process and encourage independence and creativity along the way! Lynette is excited for the opportunity to work alongside the talented and creative instructors/teachers at Encore. She looks forward to meeting the young people who will be the future artists, musicians, inventors, teachers, and leaders! Check the availability for another instructor here.
