S MERIDIAN MELANIE HENRY (Piano, Violin, Viola) Melanie began her private piano lessons in Nampa, Idaho at the age of eight and her viola study at the age of ten. Music has been a part of her life ever since. Later she added the study of the violin. During her high school years, she was involved as a violist in the Boise Youth Symphony, as well as All-State and All-Northwest groups. She performed in other various ensembles and won the state competition for viola her senior year. Melanie attended The College of Idaho from 1992-1996 and graduated with a BA degree in piano performance. She had the opportunity to study piano with the late Fern Nolte Davidson and viola with David Johnson. Melanie has played viola with the Boise Philharmonic, Treasure Valley Symphony and is currently principal violist for the Canyon County Symphony. Melanie has a passion for teaching and has taught private lessons for over thirty years. Currently, she maintains a studio of 45 students in Nampa and is an active accompanist. In her spare time, Melanie likes to cook and take her Bernedoodle on walks. Check the availability for another instructor here.
